I keep getting this error message: "the application or .dll -
c:\windows\system32\jscript.dll is not a valid window Image. Please check
this against your installation disk." On my pc I can not do a system
restore, do a search, go to windows update, open hotmail, My yahoo mail
opens and downloads new messages, but I cannot reply to, compose new,
forward or delete any mail in yahoo. My outlook mail is the only mail that
works, although this same error message pops up 10 times when I open
outlook. I cannot run my Norton anti-virus to check for problems...I cannot
access windows update site....and many other frustrating things. Error first
occurred last Saturday. I was downloading pics from my digital
camera...attempted 4 times before it was successful(which has never happened
before) ...when I went to view a video...I got 'bad image file.' or
something like that. Went to check yahoo mail and that's when above error
message began popping up. I do remember recently doing a windows update and
am thinking maybe update installed a bad jscript.dll file??? Although I
updated a day or two prior to this mess and had no problems until Sat. I
went to java.com and downloaded applet hoping that would correct problem,
but didn't. Yesterday pc wouldn't turn on past the windows logo...would
not open to desktop..this happened 4 times in a row after rebooting. That
problem has gone away, but I can do nothing on my pc. Can I somehow restore
computer via my windows xp installation disc? If so, please explain how...I
don't see any option for this. Or...can I copy this jscript.dll file from
installation disk and replace it with my seem to be corrupt jscript.dll
file? If so, please tell me where to find it on installation disc.

Use System File Checker to replace possibly corrupt jscript.dll:
Open a command prompt (Start > Run > cmd)
Type sfc /scannow
SFC will scan your system files and replace corrupt/missing files using
cached files in dllcache folder.
