hello all!! this is my first time setting up a home network. older computer

and have set up folder sharing on the one with xp. i have followed the
instructions in the "file and printer sharing in windows vista" article. i
can see my old computer on the vista network but when i dbl click on it i get
error msg ox80070035 and cannot access that computer. msg says to check
spelling..done that. could my router firewall or my software firewall on the
2 pc's have anything to do with this?? if anyone can offer any knowledge i
would appreciate it..thanks

First, you should install the update from:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;922120

on the XP machine. Then, on Vista, disable IPv6 as follows:

1. In Control Panel, click on Network and Internet.

2. Click the Network Sharing Center

3. On the left, click Manage Network Connections.

4. Right-click your Local Area Connection (or the connection for the
affected adapter) and select Properties.

5. Remove the checkmark next to Internet Protocol 6 (TCP/IPv6).

6. Click OK.

I think that these last 6 steps may be the actual solution to the problem.
Please report back here about what happens.
