My IE6 SP1 continues to throw the error "Ërror in loading DLL" which i
thought was a problem with Windows Script engine. I re-installed the latest
Windows SCript engine 5.x and the problem still ocurrs.

I´ve been reading about the mshtml.dll problems and have tried to register
various versions and i get the error code 0x0029c4a, which leads me to Biz
Talk and MDAC 2.8 problems. I am using .NET and .NET CF regularly, and do not
want to simply install anything.

I have read that MS offers a hotfix to mshtml.dll problems w/ IE 6 sp1, does
anyone know how to get it?

Or, how to solve this problem for that matter. Thanks -

Hi charliewest :-)

Click Start, then click Run.
Type regsvr32 urlmon.dll, and then click OK.
When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded" message,
click OK.
If this does not resolve the problem, repeat steps 2 through 4 for each of
the following files (in step 3, replace Urlmon.dll with each of the file
names below):
Shdocvw.dll
Msjava.dll
Actxprxy.dll
Oleaut32.dll
Mshtml.dll
Browseui.dll
Shell32.dll

If these steps do not resolve your problem, please post back to this thread
with the details and any error messages.

Hope this helps

Thanks Jan Il,

I´ve already done everything you´ve suggested here. I´ve contact support for
hotfix as per kb 811830, however, have yet to receive a response.

Depending on your maintenance level that is a really old version
(which should have been) long ago superseded by the latest
cumulative security update.

Check your current maintenance level using the following script
fragment in your Address bar:

javascript:navigator.appMinorVersion

Also check your current version of mshtml.dll

You haven't disclosed your OS so I can't make any more particular
suggestions or tell you what diagnostics you could try looking for.
Also because of this omission Jan had to give you only generic
repair suggestions. Stronger repairs might have been more effective.
E.g. see KB194177 or the regsvr32 commands in KB831429.

Hello all. Turns out that uninstalled SP2 (Windows XP) solved the problem.
Prior to uninstalling, i re-registered all of the DLLs specified by Jan in
the previous response, as well as tried to apply the hotfix (811830). I went
so far as trying to reinstall Java.

Apparently, this problem may surface when machines drivers are not 100%
up-to-date before installing SP2. This is clearly documented on the DELL
website, but i didn't check it out before installing SP2.

I have yet to re-install SP2, however, there are many drivers and a bios
update that might have caused a conflict. According to MS tech support, small
problems which might otherwise go unnoticed are brought to the surface w/
SP2.

Thanks for everyone's help.

Hi all ...

I have a similar problem which is driving me nuts! When I launch Explorer 6,
my home page starts loading and then I get the error message relating to
mshtml.dll and that explorer needs to close.

When i launch the second time everything works fine! It is just very
frustrating to have to launch twice every time I want to use the Net. I've
followed all the advice here including spyware etc and renaming the files as
suggested but the problem persists!

Any other suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated ... thanks!

Mike
