the rest of the messages reads
"Cannot find specified file."
This is a problem I have that gets worse and worse over a
period of a year until I need to reformat and reload
Windows XP. It then appears again, getting worse and worse
over time. I can also get this message when I try to
rename the file. When the problem is at its worst
virtually any file that I move or rename will from then on
generate this error message.
For example I will play a file I have in WinAmp and
everything is fine. The if I rename it or move it to
another folder I will not be able play it or delete it. I
will still be able to see the file in the folder and all
details of the file will still be there except that the
file size will list as zero.
No matter how many times I reboot windows explorer or
reboot my computer it won't delete. However after a couple
of days has passed I will be able to delete. On rare
occassions hitting Shift & Delete works.
My file system is NTFS. I defrag regularly and my utility
supposedly examines my harddrive for errors in the
filing/indexing system as well as a surface scan of my
hard disk.
I have conducted a help article search on Microsoft's site
but have come up empty.
Can anyone help me?
