Windows XP error messages

Well guys, I am not sure I am in the right place so bear with me. I am getting a n "invalid pointer application" on my laptop & just did a format\clean install & have not a clue as to what or why. I also get those dreaded "access violation" errors 00000000 & 000000D2 od my main PC. Oops, almost forgot; Operating system is Windows WX Pro ( on both) AVG (free) Ad Aware & wireless. I also have 100gb of memory. Any help or suggesions would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hi Seaweed, I've removed your 2nd post on this - as this one is in the correct place.

At which point to you receive that "invalid pointer application", is it as soon as the laptop boots up? Also, does the same problem happen in safe mode?
