Why do I constantly get these pop up messages that tell me
Microsoft Internet Explorer is going to close down?...
That this may interrrupt or cause me to lose whatever I'm
working on.
It tells me Micro Int Expl wants to send an "Error
Message". Then it gives me the choice of sending it or
not. If I click not, MSN Home page comes on,without my
going on line, and I sometimes lose tract of whatever I
was doing.
You have a virus. Get e.g. AVG7 from
www.grisoft.com and
clean your system. Then get a firewall, block everything and
see what doesn't work. I prefer the free Kerio 2.1.5 firewall.
I would also suggest going into Component Services and disabling
those services you don't need. Here's my changes (yours may differ):

Lastly, I see a lot of people having problems after installing
Microsoft's so-called security updates. I'm running SP.4
with no security updates - but a tweaked firewall - and I
haven't had a virus in 4 weeks. System was installed in
March 2004.
...and, of course, use discretion in which sites you browse
and what software you download. Set IE for only accepting
session cookies and cleanout the content of your Temporary
Internet Files every day.
