Hi,

I have looked through the existing NG's, but unable to find the exact same fault as the one i'm having.

I have a 2000 native mode domain, with 2 DC's and 4 Member servers.

The member servers are reporting the following error:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Userenv
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1000
Date: 14/10/2003
Time: 15:05:30
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Computer: PRN01
Description:
The Group Policy client-side extension Security was passed flags (17) and returned a failure status code of (1332).

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: SceCli
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1202
Date: 14/10/2003
Time: 15:05:30
User: N/A
Computer: PRN01
Description:
Security policies are propagated with warning. 0x534 : No mapping between account names and security IDs was done.
Please look for more details in TroubleShooting section in Security Help.

It looks to me like the servers are trying to replicate, but as they are member servers this is failing. I would also guess that these errors are unimportant. But is ther a way to get rid of them???

Many thanks. Mark

These errors are important. They reference Group policy
configuration. Userenv is the process that writes GPO
information to your local registry.

Secli is the actual proprigation of the group policy. With
these errors, you can be sure that any new changes to
your group policy will not take effect on this system.

I have seen this before. This indicated a DNS problem
somewhere down the line. The problem is specific to your
box? That means that DNS is having a problem with that
system. These errors are difficult to troubleshoot and
info from MS is not much help. I would check all the host
and ptr records under DNS. In my case, I had to totally
remove and re install my DNS server to get that to go
away.

Good luck.

Ouch...

That sounds like some serious business.

Although, the fact that this only occurs on the member servers, makes me
think it's to do with replication. The problem does not occur on the DC's.

Also, the member servers don't have DNS installed.

Anyone???
