Error message

Could anyone please help me with this problem. Several weeks ago, I installed the latest version of Earthlink's software. When I did this, Internet Explorer 6 stopped working and when I try to use Internet Explorer 6, it comes up with a page stating: The page cannot be displayed at the top. At the bottom it says: Cannot find server or DNS Error. I uninstalled the new Earthlink software and also uninstalled and then reinstalled Internet Explorer 6 without any success. Any help would be greatly appreciated for me to get the browser working again. Thanks
