error message

I receive an error 0x000CCC0E when trying to retrive my
email. What is this?? It won't connect and I cannot
receive my mail. Thanks, Peggy

Turn off email scanning in your anti-virus. It provides no added
protection.

Make sure your firewall is not blocking port 110 or msimn.exe.

I find in various pages that people refer to email scanners as useless, only adding some time in delivery process. Could you / someone explain this or link to a resource on this.
