Sharon,
I would suggest that you repost this to a more appropriate newsgroup. Try
the Internet Explorer newsgroup.
However, I would suggest that you attempt a repair installation of IE. All
you need to do is go to the Control Panel and select the 'Microsoft Internet
Explorer 6 SP1' entry - or whatever it might be and click on the remove
button. You will then see a dialog box and be presented with three options
( one of which may be grayed out ). Simply click the 'repair' radio button.
This may or may not resolve the issue. You may have to remove it completely
and reinstall or you may have to revert back to a previous version. As a
quick workaround have you considered opening up Windows Explorer and trying
the IE in there. Oddly enough I have seen several cases where
double-clicking on the IE icon on your desktop gives you that error while
going into Windows Explorer and using that IE allows you to reach the
Internet. Again, this is just a quick workaround so that you can do what
you need to do. The issue remains there!

Cary
