Of course I spend $200.00 and microsoft wants to charge
me when the software locks. I am receiving a message
everytime I open a workbook does anyone know why?

Message:

This workbook contains links to other data sources!
* If you update the links, Excel attempts to retrieve the
latest data.
* If you don't update, Excel uses the previous
information.

Update Don't Update Help

I have chosen "Update" and the next time I open I receive
the message again. I have chosen "Don't Update" and the
next time I open I receive the message again. I have
chosen "Help" and it just tells me what the question
means.

I do hope someone can help.

Do you think that your workbook doesn't contain links to another workbook?

If yes, get a copy of Bill Manville's FindLink program:
http://www.bmsltd.ie/MVP/Default.htm

It'll help you find those pesky ones.

I'm not quite sure what "locks" means here.

If you do have links and wish to keep them go to Tools>Options>Edit and
uncheck "Ask to update automatic links".

You won't get asked again.
