I 'm trying to send mail using Windows mail in Yahoo web-based mail. I'm not
even sure if I've installed this programm properly either. I used
instructions that I obtained fronm Yahoo on how to add email.
When I attempt to send mail i get the error message below:

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Subject '', Account: 'pop.mail.yahoo.ca', Server:
'smtp.mail.yahoo.ca', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 465, Secure(SSL): No, Socket
Error: 10053, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F.

Please help me resolve this as this problem is driving me crazy.

Thanks so much.

I don't know whether Canadian residents get POP access to
their free Yahoo accounts. We US residents don't.
Try this: change the outgoing server port from 465 to 587.
Also, make sure "My server requires authentication" is checked.

Dear Mike,
I'm having the same problem and have to use my old xp windows computer to
make sure I get all my mail. It is definitely a VISTA problem. Vista insists
on using windows mail although I have selected msn as my defalt. It says
that it will not work with yahoo, msn hotmail and some more. I am hoping
that they fix this problem because I don't want to change my email address.
