Error message Windows Explorer

Error message when I try to open control panel, my
computer and most anything windows based. I can get on
AOL and open word,excel, etc... Error message is Windows
Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to shut
down...every time.. I have already reinstalled XP and
shut down and everything..any suggestions
