Often when I play Diablo 2 on my laptop (which meets system requirements)
when there is a lot going on on screen, the game freezes. Then when I hit
the windows key, there is usually a message that says " unhandled exeption
000000008" and there are also messages such as, some items in the start menu
aren't working, or the display driver has failed and has been successfully
restored. Any ideas of what I should do? I'm even playing the game
compatible with Windows XP.

Are you running the game with Admin privilege?

Usually this happens when Vista has to shut down your video card driver due
to overheating or the video card driver is crashing.

Update your video card driver, and when you play keep your notebook cool,
make sure the vents aren't blowing out a lot of heat. If there's no air
coming out of your notebook vents, blow them out with some canned duster
air, gotta keep those notebooks cool.

If that doesn't help. post your computer make/model and maybe try some
other games, see if you get a similar response.
