error message while browsing

Upon entering a couple of characters in the url box, I get
this dialog box:
"Explorer has caused an error in USER.EXE and will now
close."

How do I fix this?

This is probably being caused by a third-party program
(adware, spyware,
parasite)

Download, install, *update* and run these two programs:
Ad-aware from http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/
Spybot from http://security.kolla.de/ (Remove items
listed in red.)
