Error Message when trying to Republish in FrontPage 2000

I tried to update my web site today, but when I hit the <publish> button, I
got a pop up dialoge box with the message "You cannot copy the Front Page Web
to itself. Please choose a different location".

I need to edit some very outdated information, but after I click "edit with
microsoft frontpage" and make my changes, I cannot republish to my web site,
but get the above message instead.

I have never had this problem before. I woul appreciate it if someone would
help me out of this quagmire.

If you're gonna open your web/site live the best way is Open FP, Open
Web/Site then enter http://www.youwebname.xxx

But it's much safer working on your local copy then Publishing it.

Sounds like you are working on the live site. In this case there is
no need to publish it, except for backup purposes (essential).
Publish to a file location (folder) on your hard disc.

Thank you. Your information was most helpful. My computer had crashed
earlier, and I had no copy of the site on my hard disk. Imported the web,
saved it, and went from there.

If you imported it, I don't think you got the whole web. Publish instead.
