Error message when importing video file

When I try to import a video file I get this message:
C:\Documents and Settings\Ianb\My Documents\Composite
(Jun 24).mpg could not be imported. An interface has too
many methods to fire events from

Playback/importing of MPEG2 content in MM2 is completely dependent on the
third party MPEG2 decoder installed on your computer. Most don't work well.
See the Importing Source Files > Video > MPEG2 page of my site but plan on
having to convert the file to AVI before importing.

In your case, you might need to use the software that came with the camera
to convert the MPEG file into an AVI that you can use in Movie Maker.
