Error message when deleting files in My Music

I have been trying to delete files in My Music
I keep getting a error message that reads

Cannot delete (name of file): Access denie
Make sure that the disk is not full and write-protecte
and that the file is not currently in use

I've checked under Properties and the folder is not set to read only
I don't have an advanced level understanding of computer technicalities
so, any ideas what the problem is
