I CAN RECEIVE emails but I CANNOT SEND OUT.

Error message pops up
stating your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible
causes server problem, network problems, long period of inactivity. Account
'mail.vzavenue.net' Server, smtp.vzavenue.net Protocol:SMTP, Port:25 Secure
(SSL) :No socket error: 10053, error Number 0x800CCCOF

I have done a fair amount of trouble shooting...turned virus conrol emali
scanner on an doff, checked the properties settings.......still no change.
and my provider says" if you get webmail and the internet" is has notihng to
do with us, or the server.

Well I know they, verizon, have a server in this apt building that I am
hooked into. and anyone I talk to still seems to think as the message reads
there is a CONNECTION issue, mail server issue...that no "handshake" is
taking place on the sending end between OE and the server.

CAN ANYONE HELP ME PLEASE? this is driving me crazy.. I ahve done registry,
etc scans.
thanks so much

You're not sending emails via IE. What's your default Mail Client (e.g.,
Outlook Express)?

Troubleshooting error messages that you receive when you are using OL and OE
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/813514

Disable email scanning by your anti-virus application. It provides no
additional protection and even Symantec says it's not necessary:

<QP>
Disabling Email Scanning does not leave you unprotected against viruses that
are distributed as email attachments. Norton AntiVirus Auto-Protect scans
incoming files as they are saved to your hard drive, including email and
email attachments. Email Scanning is just another layer on top of this. To
make sure that Auto-Protect is providing the maximum protection, keep
Auto-Protect enabled and run LiveUpdate regularly to ensure that you have
the most recent virus definitions.

Well I would like to try to help and I think I can even though this is and IE
group. Assuming you are using outlook express call your internet service
provider then have them give you the outgoing and incoming server settings
and enter those. In Outlook Express Go to tools, accounts, mail, then select
your default mail account Then hit properties. then select servers. This
shows your incoming and outgoing servers. When you call your internet
service provider enter exactly the server settings you get from them. As far
as timing out go to advanced and on server timeouts short/long. Drag the
pointer toward longer timeouts this will make the timeouts at a longer pace.
I sincerely hope this has been helpful. Please let me know if this resolves
your issue, I would appreciate your feedback.
Sincerly,
Raymond

Hope its fixed already but if not try sending using a new identity. I had
almost identical problem and this turned out to be the fix. unfortunately
over next few weeks it kept returning requiring a new identity again.
