I just recently acquired the HP MediaSmart Server EX470. For the past few
days I have been installing the server software on my laptop PC, desktop PC,
and media PC. All of them are using XP, SP3 as an OS. (Desktop is XP Pro,
others Home.) So far, the software installation has worked on the laptop PC.
I am able to install the software on the desktop PC. However, when I go to
log into the Windows Home Server Console from my desktop, I get the following
error message. "An error occurred in the Remote Desktop ActiveX control
installed on your computer". Now, I can get on the server to see my files and
what not, but when I go to make any administrative changes from the desktop
(e.g. connector update), I get that error message. Any ideas? HP customer
support didn't have any ideas and told me it was a Windows problem. Here's
what I've tried doing so far. I reset Explorer 7.0. That didn't work. I even
REPAIRED XP. No dice. Still get the same error message. I would like this
error message to go away and be able to log in the Windows Home Server
Console via my desktop computer so I can make the recommended updates. Please
advise. Thank you for your assistance.
