Hi

I get this message when I try to use Powerpoint on my own computer:

"Microsoft Powerpoint can't start the application required to open this
object. An error occurred and this feature is no longer functioning properly.
Would you like to repair this feature now?"

When I select yes, the following message appears:

"The server applicetion, source file, or item can't be found, or returned an
unknown error. You may need to reinstall the server application".

This message does not appear when I'm using powerpoint on someone's computer.

Also, this message has only appeared for the past two days. Prior to this,
it was working fine.

I currently use Powerpoint 2002. I tried the "Detect and Repair" feature in
powerpoint and it still doesn't work.

I tried to re-install office but it still doesn't work.

I don't use Norton AV. The Powerpoint SP1 and SP2 don't address the issue.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Hi

Thanks for the quick response. I currently use the free version of AVG as
my anti-virus software. I have never used Norton since I don't like the
program.

This problem still exists.

Hi Steve

A few days ago, there was a Windows XP upgrade which I applied. I had
upgraded my AVG two weeks ago but powerpoint was working fine then.

Did the uninstalls but it still doesn't work properly. I can't edit a
powerpoint presentation that I created on another computer.

It doesn't matter whether I launch it from powerpoint or not. It's really
frustrating.
