Am using Windows XP SP1
and IE 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2_gdr.040517-1325 ( I don't understand why the
xpsp2 is in the IE version info. I haven't yet downloaded and installed that
as yet....am on dial-up so this update will take hours)

Make sure you got the right version of that security patch to install -
there are several out there.
See the "Affected Components" section of
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms04-013.mspx to make
sure you get the right one.

"xpsp2" is in the IE version info possibly because you've installed updates
via Windows Update that are included in XP SP-2

Since you are on dial-up, you don't have to download XP SP-2, you can get it
free on CD from Microsoft.

I'll check on that version one last time but have been there once already. I
just tried following the "link in Pa Bear's note and got the same error message as when I tried to
install the patch... "Outlook Express could not be started. It may not be
installed............" So it appears that perhaps I'll have to try
uninstall/re-install of IE6. Drats! Any ideas re saving "favorites"? Last
time I did an export to save them then after re-install of IE6 I could not
import them.

Thank you for the links. I'll give them a try then get to work on the IE
uninstall/reinstall... I'll come back and update on results.
Thanks again!
