Error message on startup

An error message pops up at startup or when I manually
run the program saying that it cannot find a certain
drive. This is familiar with other software because the
boot drive on my computer is Drive I:\ not C:\ . This is
the result of choices made by Microsoft on how to the
boot disk works. I cannot just change the boot drive
designation to Drive C:\ . Some programs will not work
at all on Drive I:\ at this point and will freeze up the
system. The Anti-spy program makes me hit the cancel
button. It seems to me that this should not be required.
Many other programs including anti-spy programs run well
on Win XP. What is the reason for this and cannot make a
change in the registry to make it ignore the lack of
drive C:\ bootup.

I think you are mistaken about the linkage you are making. In my case,
Windows is installed on Drive E, and I don't get this message on startup.

I do believe that this issue is a bug in Microsoft Antispyware, though. And
I'd try the suggestion in the other response--using subst is one way to get
rid of such an error message, although it'd be nice if the underlying bug
were gone. When they release beta2, I'd check back carefully on this
one--we need to beat up about it if it is still there.
