Error message on startup manually install link to windows defender

When I boot up my XP PC at home an error message appears. It says that a link
to windows defender is missing and I should go to help and support to find
out how to manually set up a link.
I have searched MS help and support and cant find any reference to windows
defender except this questions page.
Can anyone help me get rid of this error message? Chris Brown (Herts England)
 
I would recommend downloading Windows Defender anew from www.microsoft.com,
and installing over the version now in place. That should both correct any
missing links, and assure you that the version you have in place is the
latest.
