A couple of days ago I deleted some old applications I know longer use, immediately after this when I rebooted I got an error message "MSWINSCK.OXC or one of its dependancies not correctly registered : a file is missing or invalid".

It doesn't stop me from getting into the computer but I'd like to rectify if possible.

Can anyone help?

Cheers

Hi Ann,
It's not a microsoft file, and I hope you uninstalled the unwanted software
properly.

ocx files are often installed in a system folder (I do wish developers
wouldn't do that) so they can be shared by more than 1 application. Were you
prompted to delete any shared files whilst you were uninstalling? If so then
that's probably the answer.
If you're able to find out which of your currently installed applications is
using this ocx, reinstall the software to replace the missing files. If
you're not sure then do a google on mswinsck.ocx and see if you recognise
any software mentioned in the search.

Either that or do a file find for the file and if found, reregister it with
regsvr32.exe. For example, if the file is on directory c:\program
files\myapp then open a command prompt and type in "regsvr32
c:\progra~1\myapp\mswinsck.ocx"

for a possible solution.
