I am trying to re-download Turbo Lister2 from eBay. Never had any problems
till recently. Have uninstalled it etc properly as far as i know. Download
seems to fail to re-install at last minute and I get a message headed
Application Error
The instruction at "0x7c911669" referenced memory at "0xffffffff". The
memory could not be "read"
I click OK to terminate and hey presto am back to square one.
Have searched the MS knowledge base. Tried e-mailing Microsoft etc etc.
Anyone any ideas? I would be most grateful.
I understand there are some products on sale that claim to solve these
problems but wouldn't know which of them were a waste of time.

Please post a complete copy of the Error report.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

Thanks for that.
Have opened Event Viewer but not sure what the 'Event' would look like>
there are some under 'System' and some under'Application' (none listed under
Internet Explorer) but none have the exact number that appears on this
message.

Post all Errors from the time the error occurred!

Hope I don't get told off for posting too much.
Have left out repetitions as there were so many errors in total.
As it was a programme called Turbo Lister I was trying to download, I
presume the one that says tl.exe is the most relevant.
Thanks a lot,
DJ

It is difficult to see what is going on as the Reports are scattered
over 8 days. It is easier to interpret reports from a single boot so
that you can see how one thing leads to another. I am editing those
parts of the error reports, which are not needed. I am also reordering
the reports into date/ time sequence.

There is evidence that the system is under pressure. What is the CPU and
how much RAM does your computer have? Right click on the My Computer
icon on your Desktop and select Properties to get this information.

Try Ctrl+Alt+Delete to select Task Manager and click the Performance
Tab. Under Commit Charge what is the Total, the Limit and the Peak?

Many of these errors seem to be because your system probably is too
reliant on using the pagefile. The answer to the question above
concerning the Commit Charge probably will confirm my suspicion.

Open Disk Defragmenter and click on Analyse. Select View Report and
click on Save As and Save. Now find VolumeC.txt in your My Documents
Folder and post a copy. Do this before running Disk Defragmenter as it
is more informative.

Turbo Lister 2......have uninstalled it due to problems (possibly following
installing Windows SP3, no problems hitherto in using TL2 but can't be 100%
that SP3 was the culprit), TL2 is properly uninstalled now but all attempts
at reinstalling produce the scenario described in my first post above (error
message).

Would love to disable BT help browser........know how to uninstall it but
not sure if this is the same as 'Disable' which I don't know how to do.

Yes insufficient memory is clearly an issue. You need to increase it to
at least 512 mb. What is your computer make and model?

Without adding memory you need to reduce memory usage. Even with 512 mb
of RAM memory you would need to reduce usage to reduce system hangs and
resultant failures.

Norton (Symantec) is not a good choice for a computer with limited
resources. It makes too big demands. When does the subscription expire?
There are freeware alternatives making far less demands. I would use AVG
8.0 for anti-virus protection, Spybot S & D for anti-spyware and the
Windows Firewall.

BT Help Browser -Disabling from Start Up The software is provided by
Motive Communications

A useful programme is Autoruns.
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/ProcessesAndThreads/Autoruns.mspx

With Autoruns you can uncheck an item, which disables it from starting,
or you can can right click an item and then delete it. If you uncheck
you can recheck to re-enable the item. It is a much safer approach than
editing the Registry. Another useful feature of the programme is that
you can right click an item and select Search Online to get information
about the item selected.

Your pagefile is set to 382 mb. Given the limited RAM I would increase
this to 638 mb. It has been set as 1.5 times RAM which is fine where
your starting point is more RAM.

How did you uninstall Turbo Lister. Did you do this using Add / Remove
Programs? The reason I ask that it would seem not all files were
removed.

Something to do which will improve performance.

Select Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk CleanUp to
Empty your Recycle Bin and Remove Temporary Internet Files. Also
select Start, All Programs, accessories, System Tools, Disk CleanUp,
More Options, System Restore and remove all but the latest System
Restore point. Run Disk Defragmenter.

It is difficult to see what is going on as the Reports are scattered
over 8 days. It is easier to interpret reports from a single boot so
that you can see how one thing leads to another. I am editing those
parts of the error reports, which are not needed. I am also
reordering the reports into date/ time sequence.

There is evidence that the system is under pressure. What is the CPU
and how much RAM does your computer have? Right click on the My
Computer icon on your Desktop and select Properties to get this
information.

Try Ctrl+Alt+Delete to select Task Manager and click the Performance
Tab. Under Commit Charge what is the Total, the Limit and the Peak?

Open Disk Defragmenter and click on Analyse. Select View Report and

following most of the things you suggested I am happy to report the problem
is now solved. Not sure exactly which of your recommendations led to this
(which I'm sure isn't what a serious computer man wants to hear!), but
thankyou so much for your time.

Hanging application BTHelpBrowser. Insufficient resources at time
to run (probably start) application.

This software takes a lot of resources and for me offers virtually
nothing, I have disabled it so that it no longer loads when the
computer boots.

Too much going on?

Event ID: 101 Date: 27/11/2008

Hanging Application Outlook Express.
Too much going on?

Many of these errors seem to be because your system probably is too
reliant on using the pagefile. The answer to the question above
concerning the Commit Charge probably will confirm my suspicion.

Open Disk Defragmenter and click on Analyse. Select View Report
and click on Save As and Save. Now find VolumeC.txt in your My
Documents Folder and post a copy. Do this before running Disk
Defragmenter as it is more informative.

Hope I don't get told off for posting too much.

As it was a programme called Turbo Lister I was trying to
download, I presume the one that says tl.exe is the most relevant.
Thanks a lot,
