I just installed XP Home on my mom's computer and when I was finished I
installed her Juno for her. When I tried to connect it came up with the
following error message:
Connection Error 797 the port is already in use.
You cannnot connect to Juno because you are still connected to the Internet
using other ISP software.
To connect to Juno you must first disconnect and close the other ISP
software.
I dont have any other ISP software. I am stumped. Can someone please tell me
what to do!!! Thanks
This can be because the Modem conflicting with the System or the system
doesn't recognize the modem!
Try to reboot the system many times and wait for a while before trying to
establish conection.
It happened for me in the past when the modem start to be devective and
need to be changed or upgraded from your ISP (Juno). I reinstalled the modem
many times to get connection and in the end had enough I upgraded!
Steps:
- Uninstall the modem driver, unplug it from the Power and from the Phomne
line. Run disk clean up on your system and run this command:
sfc /scannow
- Reinstall the driver and connect the modem to the machine/Power
cable/Phone line and make sure the cables connected firmly and correctly.
You can contact Juno here:

<Q>
Error 797 - The modem could not be found.
This error occurs only in Windows 2000 and XP. The error can occur if the
modem is no longer visible to the system, and may be a problem related to the
modem driver, or system conflicts that cause the modem to work only some of
the time. In some cases, rebooting the machine may "solve" the problem. If
the modem is an external and is not powered on when the system is booted this
error may occur: shut-down, power on the modem & re-boot the system. If the
error persists, check to see if there is an updated driver for your modem or
speak directly to your personal pc technician.
