I am getting error messages on one of my computers. I get the message when I
start the computer or when I run various programs. There are at least three
files it is saying that they are missing or damanged, maybe four.

The files it is looking for are:

microsoft office.lnk.disabled
digital Line detect.lnk.disabled
connection manager.lnk.

Can anyone please help me?

Thanks so much in advance!

You are currently or have been a victim of malicious software
(malware), so let's remove that possibility as best we can and then
fix these simple problems if they remain.

There are such .lnk files that may automatically run when you restart
your system. If you see a .lnk.disabled, that means you "real" .lnk
file has been replaced with some malware, so get rid of the malware
first, then see what's left to fix

What is your current anti malware situation? Do you have any Norton
products installed?

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware
detection programs:

Malwarebytes (MBAM): http://malwarebytes.org/
SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/

These can be uninstalled later if desired.

Thanks Jose for a prompt reply.

I recently left Nortons and switched to AVG. I already have Malwarebytes
installed (big believer in this product) and it is coming up clean. AVG
cleaned two viruses off the system and is now coming up clean.

I will download Superantispyware and run it and let you know what it says.

Thanks,

Meg

Ok. Ran malwarebytes again and came up with a rougue installer. I cleaned
that from the machine. Superantispy came up with a whole bunch of tracking
cookies which I cleaned off. I am running the malwarebytes again to make
sure it is clean. Do I need to do anything else?

Thanks so much for your help!
