The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'test', Account:
'mail.practicingperfectioninstitute.com', Server:
'mail.practicingperfectioninstitute.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I continue getting this error message and do not understand what I am doing
wrong. I am following directions for OE, but it all seems to work the same.
HELP!

What ISP are you connected to?
Are you sure they don't block port 25?

Turn off email scanning in your anti-virus.

Thank you. I have ordered Office 07. Will I be able to use this e-mail
account in the Outlook Express software or will I have the same problem? Is
it a Cox thing or an e-mail thing? I am guessing it is a Cox thing!

Outlook 2007 works in Vista.
No version of Outlook Express can be installed in Vista.

As they say, it tales two to tango. Cox blocks port 25, but that is
common practice for ISPs nowadays. But the host for
practicingperfectioninstitute.com is mostly at fault for not
offering SMTP on a port other than 25; perhaps they do,
have you asked?
A good workaround for you is to simply replace the name
of the outgoing mail server with the name of the Cox outgoing
mail server.
