Any ideas ?

Win2K (SP3) New (clean) install.

SAS Window : Winlog.exe - Corrupt File
The file or directory \autoexec.bat is corrupt and unreadable.
Please run the Chkdsk Utility.

So I did (via "run" option on Startup).
Tells me there's a problem but it has not been corrected because
the \f (fix) switch was not specified !!

Anyway, eventually got around to installing Recovery Console
and the only switch options are \p and \r (gee thanks MS)

I've run both.
With the \r switch, several "checking or recovery" lines appeared.

Restart W2K and I've still got the error message.

autoexec.bat is size "zero" and is totally empty
(I thought W2k didn't use it anyway)

Any ideas before I try re-installing W2K again ?

Hi!

Did you run the chkdsk tool with /f switch ?

etc. from run "chkdsk C: /F"

Best Regards

Did you run the chkdsk tool with /f switch ?

etc. from run "chkdsk C: /F"

I tried to !

It's says "The parameter is not valid"
HELP only shows the two options for a switch with
the chkdsk command, /p and /r

I ran it as "chkdsk c: /r" and at the end of the routine there
were several "checking or recovery" lines. So presumably
it did something ? From the description, I'm assuming that
"/r" is repair and has replaced the old DOS "/f" = fix.
(The old DOS "/v" switch option has disappeared too)

It's really that error message that's "worrying" me,
"SAS Window : Winlog.exe - Corrupt File"
"The file or directory \autoexec.bat is corrupt and unreadable"

I can sort out minor disk problems (although it's a new drive)
once I load up NU and Diskeeper, but I don't want to do that
if the W2K install isn't 100% right.
