Hi all -
Can anyone help with this?
Toshiba Satellite Pro laptop (UK). Windows XP. Brand new, so no
"history".
Set up internet account using phone no. etc. from old PC. Worked fine on
day 1.
On day 2 and ever since ...
Modem dials up, connects, verifies password, icon appears on taskbar.
All the programs (have tried IE, Real Player, MSN Explorer) give error
messages when I try to send/receive data through the connection. IE =
"Could not connect to search page" (whatever address I type in the bar).
Have tried clearing history/cookies, deleting Dial Up Connection &
starting again, temporarily disabling virus scan/firewall (McAfee),
changed modem speeds etc., followed IE help and managed to "ping" data
successfully - still no programs will acknowledge the connection.
Only other possible detail is that I had tried to download a "safe"
program (Ebay Turbolister) on day 1 when it did work - connection lost -
decided not to restart, cancelled download, shut down computer. Could
this be relevant?
Sorry if my post is a bit long - tried to include all the details I
could think of
Any help gratefully received!
