Error Message: Cannot copy atapi.sys

I received a stop error "cannot copy atapi.sys" while
upgrading from 98 to XP Home. I was given three options -
retry (which did not work), skip (which I did not try) and
quit installation.

What's the cause of this problem and how do I fix it?

Hi Mark,

1) Make sure your WinXP disk is clean.

2) Did you disable your antivirus software before beginning? You should
clean the boot process so the bare minimum is running.

3) Dump the contents of all \temp folders (In Win98 this is usually
C:\Windows\temp).
