Error message and unwanted dialog box

Here's the problem. For the past three days, everytime I
log on, and at other times as well, a small dialog box
pops up on my screen that has the words "dwn" or "down"
in the center and a small bar at the bottom where I can
click "OK" or I can click the "X" in the upper right hand
corner to exit. I have also been getting an Error
Message box from time to time. I click for it to send
Microsoft an error message. Does anyone have any ideas
of how to get rid of these. I have tried System Restore,
but it will not let me choose a date other than today.

sounds like virus or worm. Try searching google, put the
error message in google. The answer will probally b in a
forum somewhere. Someone else probally had same problem.
 
There are a bunch of people with the same problem, but it seems noone has a solution that works.
 
I am still trying a variety of things. If I find the
answer I will let you know. Thanks.
