Error Message.80040256 help we have no way of hearing our music.

I have done something to the computer 'bout the begining of the month and nothing I can do will bring back sound.
 
Have you tried to Restore your system, you can go back up to 90 days???
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System tools/System Restore.
