I found an error log in the Microsoft Antispyware
subdirectory with is now over 1 GB in size. How can I
reduce the size of this file or eliminate it completely
(apart from manually deleting it)?

.

Yeah, you can delete it manually.

Manual deletion, after shutting down Microsoft Antispyware is the
recommended solution.

Please update to the newest build--we don't have any information showing
that this issue is resolved in that build but it won't hurt.

Can you say what version of Windows this occurs on? FWIW, I've only seen
this happen on Windows 2000 servers--but I'd be interested to hear whether
it is broader than that.

OK - I've now seen a 1.5 gig errors.log on a simple XP workstation--so I
guess this issue isn't limited to servers. No multiple users, no limited
users, just a simple corporate Windows XP workstation. Was an upgrade from
Windows 2000, though, fwiw.

I've got a 3+ GB Error Log File and deleted it
immediately... it keeps creating and getting bigger very
fast. In 5 minutes it's size has already passed 1MB!!!

I've got an original XP Pro system (not upgraded) and the
content of the log file is:
---------cut---------
91::ln 0:Object variable or With block variable not
set::gcasDtServ:modAgentsDataStore:IsDirty::27/06/2005
11.59.12:1.0.501
91::ln 0:Object variable or With block variable not
set::gcasDtServ:modAgentsDataStore:SaveData::27/06/2005
11.59.12:1.0.501
91::ln 0:Object variable or With block variable not
set::gcasDtServ:modAgentsDataStore:SaveData::27/06/2005
---------cut---------

There's a possible solution or workaround?
M.

If this behavior persists with the newest build, .614, I'd uninstall the
beta and wait for beta2.

I've seen this go away, and then come back weeks later, so I don't know of
any way to say that you are safe from this on a machine which has seen it in
the past.

Yes, after I've uninstalled the old version and the new
installation of the new build (.614) the behaviour
persist. I will create a script that automatically delete
the log file periodically... waiting for the Beta2 to
come... ;)

Today I deleted an errors.log file that was 3.58 GB!

I am running the latest version of AntiSpyware.
Installed sometime in late April...

I am running XP Pro SP1.

I found the file when I tried to defrag and it choked. I
tried to open it but notepad can't handle the size,
Wordpad locked up, then I just deleted it.

Deleting it is fine--no one has ever suggested to me that there's value to
be learned from the content. (i.e. I believe Microsoft knows what's involved
here, but the work to remove the issue hasn't risen above the bar for the
refresh builds distributed thus far.)
