Ben

I recently had to remove a server from a 2 server AD.
The failed server will not be replaced. I thought I had
reconfigured the remaining server with all the correct
information, but a couple error message started showing
up.

Event ID 54 - W32Time
The description for Event ID ( 54 ) in Source ( w32time )
cannot be found. The local computer may not have the
necessary registry information or message DLL files to
display messages from a remote computer. You may be able
to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description;
see Help and Support for details. The following
information is part of the event: , , this machine's
local domain.

and
Event ID 1 - afamgt
The description for Event ID ( 1 ) in Source ( afamgt )
cannot be found. The local computer may not have the
necessary registry information or message DLL files to
display messages from a remote computer. You may be able
to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description;
see Help and Support for details. The following
information is part of the event: \Device\AFA0,
Controller battery needs reconditioning. It looks like
for this one the RAID controller is failing ?

What is this /AUXSOURCE= command that is in both errors?
Also, the users are having a problem where on occassion
everyone in the office will lose connectivity to the
server (about 10 people) and a minute later then can get
back in. This was happening before the other server
crashed.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Most times when you are not able to see the errors description it is
because you are viewing the event log remotely. If you view the log on the
server itself then you should be able to see the whole error.

The W32Time error 54 is talked about in the following article;
312534 Forest Root Domain Controllers May Display System Events 54 and 64
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=312534

To configure a time server for your domain controller please follow the
steps in the following article;

For a list of Time servers available on the internet please refer to;

For your second error, Event ID 1 - afamgt, this driver is installed by the
Dell Open Manage software. You need to contact Dell to run the
ArrayManagement or other utility to recondition the battery on the
controller. This will take 6 - 8 hours and can adversely affect server
performance during that time.
