Hi Sypware Team

i wanted to send you a quick note

I just noticed (on my home computer this weekend)
I had a 996,230KB errors.log file Thats almost a GIG!
It had 8,608 file fragments
(I noticed it while doing a defrag.)

what could be the reason for this?

I don't think the cause is well known at this time but in the past, a
reinstall has corrected this problem.

If you are under attack and MSAS does not seem to help:

*Submit suspected spyware report in the tools menu of MSAS*

1. Download:
lspfix.exe www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
winsockxpfix.exe www.snapfiles.com/get/winsockxpfix.html
ccleaner.exe www.ccleaner.com
killbox.exe www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/killbox.php

2. Reboot into safe mode - http://tinyurl.com/pfca

3. Clean out all temp file locations - ccleaner.exe
(be sure to configure to delete all temp files
and not just those 48 hours old or older)

4. Run MSAS at least twice in full/deep mode

5. Run a robust, updated antivirus software scan

6. Reboot into normal mode, see if problem has been corrected

7. Install and use killbox to delete stubborn files

8. If you think something is there but can't see it:
- Download:
Blacklight by F-Secure to look for rootkits
www.europe.f-secure.com/exclude/blacklight/blbeta.exe
RootKitRevealer by SysInternals

Battle Notes:
- If you have trojans (files that won't go away),

Application Notes:
Registering a VB6 dll seems to fix missing agents:
1) Open up a command prompt (start -> run -> cmd)
2) Type in the following "regsvr32 msvbvm60.dll" (without the quotes).
3) Close and re-open Windows AntiSpyware

Right click the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon in the notification area, click
"Shutdown Microsoft AntiSpyware", navigate to c:\program files\Microsoft
AntiSpyware and delete the notepad file titled errors. Restart the machine.

Right click the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon in the notification area, click
"Shut Down Microsoft AntiSpyware". Navigate to c:\program files\Microsoft
AntiSpyware and delete error log text file. go to Add\Remove Programs
(Control Panel) uninstall Microsoft AntiSpyware, restart and in reinstall.

I read somewhere in the newsgroups, the errors are actually associated with
MSAS not supporting limited user account, so you should check back on this
in beta 2 also.

Don't feel so bad. I just noticed mines over 4 Gig. I
don't know if its safe to delete it.

It is safe to delete it, but please shut down Microsoft Antispyware first.
I had to reboot a server because of this issue the other day--I tried
deleting the file before killing all the Microsoft Antispyware processes,
and the result required restarting the server, which wasn't pretty.

Just delete the app. I had same problem...a useless
program considering the tried a true ones on the free
market etc.
