error in sending mail

i set up my account (AOL), and i receive my mail ,but can't send. incoming is
imap.aol.com, outgoing is smtp.aol.com:587, and authetication is yes. i have
tried without the 587 at the end, but nothing. with the 587 it says, The host
'smtp.aol.com:587' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered
the server name correctly.
Subject 'Emailing: windows_masthead_ltr', Account: 'imap.aol.com', Server:
'smtp.aol.com:587', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error:
11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D .
without the 587 it says,
Some of the messages in your Outbox Folder could not be copied to
your Sent Items Folder. Your message could not be uploaded to the IMAP
server. The server refused to accept it. Subject 'Emailing:
windows_masthead_ltr', Account: 'imap.aol.com', Server: 'imap.aol.com',
Protocol: IMAP, Server Response: 'Mailbox Sent Items cannot be appended to',
Port: 143, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCCD2
any solutions will be appreciated
 
i noticed without the 587 it did go through to my inbox, but not to my sent
folder. could it be because i sent it to myself?
 
you don't specify the port like that.

the outgoing server should be smtp.aol.com

click on the Advanced Tab, and change the port number there...

I changed the port settings like that (smtp.aol.com) and it goes through, but i keep getting this error.
