The problem might be
a result of using antivirus software that it not compatible
with Vista/Windows Mail. Most notorious are Norton
and McAfee. If you are another of their victims...

Uninstall either product entirely.
Delete and recreate your email account within Windows Mail.
Download and install a Vista compatible Antivirus product
such as AVAST
Avast http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html
excluding or disabling the superfluous email scanning component.

Doh!

It is ludicrous to run 2 av's.

You shouldn't run any email virus scanning.

Apart from that read this...

And post your error message and codes.

stefanie

First of all you should not have 2 different Anti Virus suites installed. That is a no-no. What the heck is Bullguard.

Also can you post the error message (s) that is shown when you try to send\receive mail. Is your email setup as prescribed by your ISP.
Which ISP are you using or are subscribed to.

Can you post an answer to all of the above

THANKS
ok,i'm an idiot,i removed bullguard antivirus and now its working again
