Error in reading PPT2000 files inside PPT2003

Hi,
I'm having serious problems in reading old files created in PPT 2000
inside the new powerpoint 2003. The error is "PowerPoint can't read
blahblah.ppt".
The file is NOT corrupted, as I can read it in the old PowerPoint
2000.
The files are nothing strange, not greater than 2Mb, and they don't
contain audio or video. The strange thing is that other files of the
same type, created with the same template, are read perfectly by the
new powerpoint 2003.
I saw others having the same problems: is there any news from
Microsoft? Otherwise I have to give Office2003 back......
