Jerome

I have a MS Excel file which I have been using it for
storing my daily Incomes and Expenditure for the past two
years now. Just a few days back I was updating my file
with data in it. I saved it and tried to open it but I
would get an error message i.e. “ This program has
performed an illegal operation and will shut down. If the
problem persists, contact the program vendor.” This the
first time I am getting this kind of a problem. I have
asked my computer dealer regarding this error and he says
that it has to be deleted. I cannot delete the file has it
contains Very Important data in it. The details of this
error is given as below:

EXCEL caused an invalid page fault in
module EXCEL.EXE at 0167:3004c4ae.

So, I humbly request you to help me in getting my file
restored as it very important to me. The size of the file
is 359KB.

Hoping for a positive feedback soon.

Thanking you in advance

Sincerely,
Mr. Jerome Araujo

It does sound like the file has become corrupt. You don't mention your
version of XL but if you are not using XP or 2003, you might see if someone
with these versions can open the file as these where much better with
corrupt workbooks.

Alternatively, there are programs or companies on the web that specialise in
this, but you will be charged.

You could try also... Opening the file in word to see if you can, at least
salvage the data. or... use another workbook and linking formulas to bring
the data across into another book. You will need to 'hand type' the links as
you cannot open the book to use the 'click' method. (In both these cases you
will lose the formulas)

HI Nick,

It was kind of you to reply to my problem. It gave me some
of restoring my file.

At present I am using windows 98 with office 2000. since
the is important i had protected it with a password.I also
tried changing the XL file to extention*.doc &*.htm but i
get unreadble language.

As you adviced to use word and import the data, i did try
but it is unsucessfull so with XL file.

I will install windwos XP and will try opening.

you also did mention that, there persons who specialize in
getting these kind of problems done althugh i have to pay.
Please do tell me where do i contact them (E-MAIL ID
preferable) and how much would i have to pay.

Thanks

Sincerly
Mr. Jerome
