Error in KERNEL32.DLL

Yesterday I received the following error message when trying to connect to my internet provider:
"Iexplore has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL. Iexplore will now close." I'm able to establish the connection with my internet provider, but my home page won't appear. I've reinstalled Explorer version6 patch 1. Right after I reinstalled the latest version, I was able to successfully connect to the internet. This morning when I tried to connect, the same error message appeared. I'm back where I started yesterday.

Can anyone help me with this problem? It only popped up yesterday. I haven't installed any new software on my machine in the past month.

Thanks. John P...

John,
Possibly caused by an adware, spyware, parasite program.
See:
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware and Parasites:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

A legitimate program running in the background may be causing this. Disable
(for diagnostic purposes) programs such as pop-up blockers, security,
anti-virus, etc. Also... notorious for causing problems- Gator, Kazaa and
some others.

There are other possibilities for KERNEL32 errors:
