When i tried to install windows xp service pack 1 in my CPU, shows an error message that says "wrong in serial for the product"....??? , if i have an error in serial ,then how did i install it?....
well that's not the problem, after this the system self-reboot , and when i log in again, my drivers were not found, my cd-rom (generic), and my cd-rw (optorite), and i tried to un/reinstall it but the problem is in the controller, so i am very dissesperated, because i cannot insert my xp disc in the drives, they're still functioning, but the controller aren't.

if you can help me sending me the controller for cd rom (generic), please help me

Microsoft has chosen to disable Windows Update for those running Windows XP using a well know leaked serial key

If you bought retail box OS, contact microsoft.

Also please note this is win2000 newsgroup.
You may want to post in microsoft.public.windowsxp.hardware.
