Hello all,

I have a computer running windows 2000 professional. When I open the
event viewer to see my security log, I am able to open and see all the
recorded events but it does not allow me to open the properties of the
events. When I try closing computer management it gives me the
following error message:
"Close all property pages before closing Computer Management," it
wont allow me to close unless I use the task manager to end the task.
I loged in as administrator but still not working.

.........help.......

Thanks,

Rey

Could it be the event properties dialog is being opened but is displayed
behind the computer management snapin

Hi Rey,

Has the RPC service been disabled on this machine?
Many applications will no longer function correctly if
this service is not running.
If this was done as a preventative measure for the RPC bug
it is overkill.
Please apply the patch and enable the RPC service.
Set HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\PpcSs\Start = 2

thx,
Bryston

I checked by minimizing the computer management window but was not
there. Your suggestion also makes me belive that some how the
properties window was place outside this screen. I will see if I can
figure out how to make all windows appear in one screen. Thanks for
your advise.

Bryson,

Thanks for the information. Somehow the service pack got corrupted, I
had to reinstall Service pack 4. Everything works fine now.

Thank you all for your help with this issue.
