Bob,
You need to include more details, such as the version of Outlook and how you
created the CD, and how you are attempting to Import..
Without knowing any details:
There are two suggestions I have, the latter being very unlikely, but when
you put a file on a CD it's read-only attribute is turned on, and if you
make any copies from the cd they will all have the Read only attribute..
I'm not sure the Import command is bound by the same restriction, but if you
wanted to just open the .PST file all you have to do is copy it to your
hard-drive, turn Read-only off, and do a File -> Open (PST)
If you can't import even after the PST is no-longer read-only then you can
try opening the file as I described and copying the contacts via Drag and
Drop to your contacts folder..
The second option, which is unlikely is if your PST file is larger than 2 GB
(2048 KB - it just needs to be within a few hundred K) If this is the case,
you will need a tool designed to chop the tail end of the file off and then
run Microsoft's Scan PST tool...For details on this just search Microsoft's
KB articles (or anyone here I'm sure would be more than willing to look the
article up for you)
A third option is to just run the scan PST tool (after copying to hard-drive
and turning off read-only) but since you say you made a backup, it sounds
unlikely you would have any inconsistencies/corruptions with a new PST
file..
