Error importing an Excel file into Outlook 2003 Contacts related to range of cells

I've created an Excel spreadsheet from my previous computers contact list. When trying to import from Outlook 2003, I get an error that says I have not named a range of cells in the Excel spreadsheet, even thought I DID name them. Perhaps I named them incorrectly by using the range A1:BU275 as the name? I assume that I select the range, type in the name, and then save the spreadsheet but I've tried several times and the message still comes up. I don't even get to the section where you map the fields. The error message comes up first. HELP!!
