I am getting this message when I try to access most
websites including http://www.microsoft.com. On getting
the message, IE6 then closes. If I try the windows update
site, IE6 doesn't even open from the link to the update
URL. I am having to a friend's machine to send this
message as I can't logon to any Micosoft web page on my
own. The only thing I have done since the last time IE
was working properly is to install the trial version of Fx
MPEG Writer v8.87 and uninstalling this has not helped. Re-
installing Windows ME has not solved the problem.

Please can someone help as the situation is getting
desperate!

It's probably a bad Browsing Object. A parasite.

IE 6.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware

and:

SpyBot-S&D
http://security.kolla.de/

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.
