I have upgraded to BCMV2 and installed service pack 1.
When I go to open accounts all the accounts are shown but when I try to add
a new account or open an existing one the accounts form opens and then the
error message

" Failed to load resources from resource file. Please check your setup"
appears.

On clicking on OK, Outlook with BCM closes completely. Same thing happens
with opportunities but not contacts. I have uninstalled BCMV2 and reinstalled
but still the same.Any ideas.

Hi Chris

With regard to the error message try running a Detect and Repair from the
Maintenence Mode(you can get to this
screen by clicking highlighting the Offcie program in add /remove and
clicking on change). This replace all the files whether
versioned,Non-versioned,Dll and Non DLL.This should take care of the
issue.Would be obliged if you can send me a screen shot as well to
(e-mail address removed)

With Regards

Hi Raul

That appears to have fixed the problem when I open a new/exisiting database
that was created with BCM2. When I try to open a database that was created in
BCMV1 I get the error message. As I did not have many records in the BCMV1
database I will continue with the new database and add new accounts, contacts
etc. Unfortunately I cannot now send you a screen shot.
Thanks very much for the fix, it is much appreciated. If the problem
ressurects itself I will let you know.

Best regards
Chris

Hi Raul

I spoke too soon. I have repaired the database about 3 times now. It seems
to last for so long and then gives me the error message again. I think I will
uninstall it and just run Outlook. I think BCMV2 is a very flaky peice of
software.

Hi Chris

The error message that your getting now is it similar to the one you
mentioned or a different one.If it is the same can you tell me the version
of .NET Frame Work that you have in add/remove Programs.

Raul Thomas

Hi Raul

The error message is the same as before. The version of .NET is 1.1, I seem
to remember this was updated during the installation of BCMV2. It might be
worth mentioning that my PC is on a network running Windows Small Business
Server 2003 and no configuration of this has been made

You could try creating a .NET fusion log. That should tell you exactly
what assembly it's having trouble loading--assuming that's why the
error message suggests theres a setup problem. The fusion quickly
solved a recent problem that had me tearing out my hair.

Instruction for generating fusion logs is here:

Hi Luther

Unfortunately I have searched everywhere for the fuslogvw.exe file to run it
but it is not in the windows directory or the microsoft.net directory or it's
subdirectories.
I have also now updated .NET1.1 with service pack 1.
Any clues as to where I can find it or download it from the Microsoft web
site. Thanks again for your help.

Equal frustration.
I have read about BCM and installed it on my machine, imported a few
contacts and WHAM, I get the same resource error. I re-installed and then
updated to the latest version and installed the latest Svc Pack, no
difference. It is so frustrating that the software is such a great concept,
yet it is not only flakey but does it work on anyone's computer?

Microsoft Techs - please help!! Your software has potential but if this
continue then our department will abandon it all together.

Hi

For the below mentioned error a Detect and Repair of Office from add/remove
program should do the trick.Try the same and let me know if it helps

Raul,
I noticed you replied with the same response in the beginning of this
thread, since it was already in the thread I have tried that several times
and just like the others I get the same error of loading resources when
messing around with accounts. I have "repaired" it several times. All other
Microsoft Applications work, this is just very flakey and NOT ready for prime
time. As I read the notes on this message board it appears as though we are
beta testers - standard functionality of a contact manager does not exist in
this system, in CRM yes, but not here. I think it is more of a teaser and
get you to buy CRM, but the impression this leaves to the consumer is
frustration and consequently take Microsoft out of the running when
evaluating other software solutions. If you have more help, please, i will
try anything.

I too am having a problem with "Failed to load resources from resource file"
error. Everything appears to work fine in Outlook and Business Contact
Manager except that when I try to open any of the Accounts in BCM, I get this
error. I have reloaded Outlook and BCM and I have run all recommended
updates inlcuding SP1 for BCM - I still get the same problem.

I used to get the problem, on occassion and running the 'repair'
functionality found under the Help menu would clean it up for a while and
then it would happen all over again. NOW, repairing the file has no effect
on this behaviour.

HELP

Hi
Can you create a new database and then see if we are getting the same error.
To create a new one file>data file management> remove the existing database
and then adding a new one.
before you do that back up the data base using the import export wizard of
bcm that can be accessed via the file menu. Export the database as .bcm file
and save it to a location prefrbely desktop. If the new database works looks
like some kind of corruption with the old one
