When I boot up my PC I get an error saying, " \windows\system32\config\system
is missiong or corupt", " Status: 0xc000000f".

When I start the computer from the vista cd and enter the repair option I
enter the "System Recovery Options". There I am asked which operating system
I would like to repair, but the problem is no operating systems are show, I
only have Vista installed. I am given the option to "Load Drivers", but I
dont know what I am suppose to do exactly. Can anyone help or at least point
to where I can find some?

Hi,

It means a registry file (system) is damaged or missing. During startup, can
you access the boot menu by hitting F8 as soon as the POST ends? If so, try
the last known good configuration.

I tried using the last known good configuration, but it brings up the same
error message. In both error messages it tells me to use the Vista start up
repair option but when I click repair to enter into the area that gives the
repair options options, it asks for me to choose what operating system I
would like to repair. The problem is that it doesnt show Windows Vista in the
or any operating system in the box. It says I can add one by clicking the
load drivers button but I dont know what to do after I click on load drivers.

Hi,

"Load drivers" would only be used if you needed to add one in order for the
Vista DVD to see the hard drive. This is common for RAID arrays, and for
some SATA drives. Essentially, you should know if this is necessary, and
would be highly unusual in a preinstalled system. Can you load the command
prompt option from the boot menu?

Thank you for the help. When you mentioned RAID it jogged my memory and I
found the floppy named RAID driver on it (the computer is a few years old so
I had forgoten about the driver disk). After that my operating system showed
up and repair fixed the startup error. Once again thank you!
