Error during start up

I keep receiving an 'error' message: "Count not load or run E:/SETUP.EXE
SPEDIFIED IN THE REGISTRY. MAKE SURE THE FILE EXISTS ON YOUR COMPUTER OR
REMOVE THE RFERENCE TO IT IN THE REGISTRY."

This file does not exist on my computer...I can find no reference to it
anywhere except when windows vista is starting...I must 'exit' out of it to
continue with start-up. This is driving me crazy.

Any suggestions...I am not very techno-savvy, but I would appreciate any
suggestions.

Thank you and Happy New Year.

I ma sure someone else, more knowledgeable will tell you this in a more
authorities form but what you should do is to open Command Prompt as an
Administrator and run regedt32.exe. this will give you a GUI (a Management
Console which exposes a treeView: the registry).

Open up View Tab and type in Find textbox: E:/SETUP.EXE or just paste it.
Click Find button. You will find a few positions in the registry which
contain this file. You should delete that key.

It may be easier said than done. the latest version of regedt32.exe does not
allow delete. The option is dimmed. I do have an older version from Win2K
which has full range of options. It has the same name and I keep it in a
different folder.

Another option is that this file got into the Startup menu. This is much
simpler.

Go to Start==>All Programs==>Startup and click on this menu item. If that
file is there, delete the menu item.

Thanks much Alex...I tried both these and neither steps could find any
reference to the file. The error still comes up upon start...the registry
cannot find it...FRUSTRATING!
